She served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington's MSW program in the School of Social Work.
Rebecca presents internationally on the effects and treatment of early childhood trauma and its impact on attachment. She conducts clinical training and community education on issues of attachment, adoption, and early childhood trauma for professionals, agencies, and families. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, a board member of ATTACh, and member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Rebecca is also a past board member of the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute in New York and a founding board member of the Kinship Alliance in California. She is a parent by birth, adoption, and foster care.
In Rebecca's words: "Attachment and trauma work is fascinating; I learn a great deal from my client families about commitment, trust, and recovery as they work so hard to build secure family relationships. Children with backgrounds of abuse, neglect, and institutionalization are remarkable in their ability to take the necessary leap of faith to trust their adoptive parents. Their bravery is amazing; I am grateful to be able to work with these children and their families." |
